Hand Polished
Mechanical polishing compliments electropolishing as a high quality surface preparation
is needed in order to achieve the standards required by pharmaceutical, chemical
and food companies.
The customer may specify a finish of 0.2 micron Ra electropolished , on a blender
tank. This will require mechanical polishing progressively from 180 grit to
240 grit and finally to 320 grit. Each stage is taken at 90 degrees to the previous
stage to ensure all the polishing lines are not in the same grain direction..
All the circumference and longitudinal welds will be ground back flush to the
shell until smooth and crevice free. In addition all branches and connections
from the tank must be absolutely smooth with well rounded edges and crevice
free.
